Win Up to $2,500 with the Celebrating 50 Years of Moda Contest
Join us in celebration of 50 years of Moda! Are you a quilter? Do you love fabric designs from Moda? Whether you’re one or both, we have a contest for you! Other than getting the opportunity to experience the joy of quilting with a brand-new, limited-edition fabric collection, you can also win up to $2,500 from Moda if you submit photos of your quilt (made with all the requirements) by March 1, 2025.
Celebrating 50 Years in the Quilting Industry
Moda has been a key player in the quilting industry for coming on 50 years now. That’s half a decade of providing high-quality, unique quilting fabrics from talented designers, as well as contributing to the development and distribution of innovative products that improve the quilting experience of crafters around the world. They are proud to offer education, inspiration, and the means to keep quilting!
Now, for their 50th birthday, Moda has released a one-of-a-kind retrospective fabric collection, which you can find at Quilt Quarters! This collection features a Moda rainbow, with 11 four-in-one, width-of-fabric prints from 44 Moda designers. The prints feature a true rainbow along with the addition of sleek neutrals and designs that range from traditional to modern and everything in between.
Moda’s Quilting Contest
With the reveal of the new fabric collection, Moda has also announced a quilting contest! For this contest, quilters can choose 1 of 3 categories to create a unique quilt for:
- Pieced Quilt: Quilters will send in a quilt made using traditional piecing methods in an original design.
- Art Quilt: Quilters will send in a quilt made using traditional and/or modern techniques in an original design that may include 3D accents, appliqué , foundation paper piecing, or other techniques.
- Next Generation Quilter: Quilters 17 years of age or younger can submit either a pieced quilt or an art quilt.
Each category will have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner. 1st place quilters will receive $2,500, 2nd place will received $1,000, and 3rd place will receive one free Moda fat quarter bundle each month for a year.
Contest Rules and Requirements:
- Sizing
- Pieced and Next Generation quilts must be at least 60″ square.
- Art quilts must be at least 45″ square.
- No quilts may larger than 85″ x 90″.
- Fabric
- The quilt top must be made using at least 75% the Celebrating 50 Years of Moda collection mentioned above.
- 100% of the quilt top, backing, and binding must be made with Moda fabrics.
- Construction
- Quilts must be quilted and bound.
- Tied quilts or unquilted tops will not be accepted.
- Quilts must be quilted and bound.
- Submission and Judging Process
- Quilts will initially be entered into the contest by submitted three clear photos of your quilt.
- One of the photos must be of the full quilt.
- Quilt photos must be received by March 1, 2025.
- Once the deadline closes, judges will select a panel of quilts based off of the photos to be sent in for in-person judging.
- Quilts chosen for this will be notified in early April, and winners will be announced in October 2025 at the Fall Quilt Market.
